Mountaineers Up to No. 20 in USA Today Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A 3-0 start has moved the West Virginia University women's basketball team up to No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, as announced on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers (3-0) previously came in at No. 25 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll released on Nov. 1. They ranked at No. 25 in the most recent AP Top 25 Poll, which was announced Monday.
WVU earned 136 points, tying with Texas A&M, and is one of three Big 12 teams to appear in the rankings. No. 5 Baylor received 650 points, while Texas ranks at No. 9 with 524 points. Iowa State and Oklahoma State received votes but were not ranked in this week's poll.
Additionally, two of WVU's upcoming opponents rank in the top 25. Iowa comes in at No. 14 with 368 points, while Missouri ranks at No. 18 with 180 votes. The Mountaineers and the Hawkeyes square off on Friday in a 5 p.m. tip in the Bahamas as part of Junkanoo Jam, while WVU will host the Tigers for the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Dec. 2 in Morgantown.
