MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following a 4690 showing in a win over NC State, the West Virginia University rifle team sits at No. 3 in this week's College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Rankings.
Today's rankings are based one each team's highest score shot in its most recent weekend of action. The Mountaineers (10-0, 5-0 GARC) defeated the Wolfpack, 4690-4638, on Nov. 17, at the Bill McKenzie Rifle Range.
TCU jumps to No. 1 with a 4719 score. Murray State shot 4692 on Nov. 17 and ranks No. 2. Memphis last shot 4689 on Nov. 10 and sits at No. 4, and Kentucky follows at No. 5, having tallied 4681 on Nov. 17.
Air Force ranks No. 6 (4674), and Navy (4672) ranks No. 7. Nebraska ranks No. 8 (4669), and Morehead State (4667) and Jacksonville State (4666) round out the top 10.
Next up for WVU is a training trip to Magaliesburg, South Africa, Dec. 28 – Jan. 8.
The Mountaineers will resume their regular-season slate against Mississippi on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m., at the Bill McKenzie Rifle Range.
