WVU Moves into AP Top 25

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Carrying a 3-0 mark into the third week of play, the West Virginia women's basketball team moves into the AP Poll for the first time this season, coming in at No. 25 in the latest poll released Monday.
The Mountaineers (3-0) also ranked at No. 25 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll released on Nov. 1. The next USA Today Poll is slated for Tuesday.
WVU earned 70 points and is one of three Big 12 teams to appear in the rankings. No. 4 Baylor leads all Big 12 schools with 677 points and Texas ranks at No. 10 with 490 points. Iowa State and TCU also received votes in this week's poll.
Additionally, Iowa comes in at No. 12 this week with 435 votes. The Mountaineers and the Hawkeyes will square off on Friday as part of Junkanoo Jam, held at Gateway Christian Academy on the island of Bimini in The Bahamas. Tipoff is set for 5:15 p.m.
