Five Wins Lead WVU on Day Two in Tallahassee

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Highlighted by five wins between singles and doubles play, the West Virginia University tennis team finished day two of the Florida State All-Conference Showdown, on Friday afternoon in Tallahassee, Florida.
"We had a better overall day today," WVU coach Miha Lisac said. "Tomorrow is another opportunity to close out the fall season well."
Doubles Recap
The Mountaineers began day two in doubles. Junior Sofia Duran and freshman Anastasiia Bovolskaia began Saturday's tournament action strong for WVU, capturing a win over Middle Tennessee State's Costanza Magazzini and Zani Barnard, 6-4.
WVU fell in their final two doubles matches on Saturday. Seniors Abigail Rosiello and Kirsten White fell to the duo of Mary Hunter Hyche from Furman and Paiton Wagner from Oregon, 3-6. Sophomore Anne-Sophie Courteau and junior Christina Jordan were bested by North Florida's Gartner and Mariotto, 4-6.
Senior Paula Goetz and sophomore Giovanna Caputo lost their match to Troy's Celia Montero Estevan and Chunxi Guo by default.

Singles Recap
West Virginia concluded day two from the Florida State All-Conference Showdown in singles play, collecting four wins in total.
Bovolskaia captured the Mountaineers' first singles win, besting Wisconsin's Anna Makarova, 5-7, 7-5, 10-6, in a three-set, super tiebreaker. Also capturing a win in tiebreaking fashion, Duran defeated Troy's Matea Mihaljevic, 6-2, 1-6, 10-2.
Additionally, Goetz captured a win for the Mountaineers on Saturday, defeating Southern Miss' Ebru Zeynep Yazgan, 6-2, 3-0. Yazgan retired early to seal Goetz's win.
Jordan and Rosiello both fell in two sets on Saturday. Jordan dropped her match, 2-6, 0-6, to East Tennessee State's Laylo Bakhodirova, while Rosiello fell to Southern Miss' Tanit Lopez, 4-6, 4-6.
In a match that featured a tiebreaking point in the second and third set, Courteau fell to Tulane's Ivone Alvaro in a three-set, super tiebreaker, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 6-10.
White capped the day with a win for the Mountaineers, as she bested Troy's Casas Blas in a three-set, super tiebreaker, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.
