MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team will travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to compete in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 27.
"We head to Philadelphia this weekend with an eye on the weather due to forecasts for thunderstorms and strong winds on Saturday," said coach Jimmy King. "As long as it's safe to race, we'll get after it regardless of the conditions. Our varsity squads haven't competed in a head race for the past two years, opting for scrimmages. So, we're looking forward to being back in a large-scale fall regatta, such as the Head of the Schuylkill."
WVU will stage at the Three Angels Statues Festival Area on the Schuylkill River. Four boats will compete in the Women's Championship Fours at 10:05 a.m. ET, while two boats are set to compete in the Women's Championship Eights at 4:50 p.m.
This year marks the 10th time the Mountaineers have competed in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, with the team's first visit to Philadelphia coming in 2002.
