Mountaineers Cap Day Two at Martha Thorn Invite

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team tacked on four more singles wins, totaling nine on the weekend, as it completed day two at the Martha Thorn Mountaineer Invitational in Morgantown on Friday at the Summit Tennis Academy.
"It's been a good two days of competition so far," said coach Miha Lisac. "We have positive things to build upon going into the matches tomorrow."
Singles Recap
Saturday's singles action began with junior Christina Jordan's match against Delaware's Sarah Hall. The Detroit, Michigan, native won a three-set thriller, 5-7, 6-4, 11-9, to secure her second win of the fall season.
Sophomores Anne-Sophie Courteau and Giovanna Caputo also secured two-set victories over the Blue Hens. Courteau defeated Sarah Whited, 6-3, 6-2, while Caputo bested Emily Gotkiewicz, 6-4, 6-3.
Freshman Anastasiia Bovolskaia tacked on the third two-set victory for the Mountaineers on Saturday, as she defeated Delaware's Viva Laas, 6-3, 6-4.
Seniors Abigail Rosiello and Kirsten White were both defeated in Saturday's singles action.

The Mountaineers also squared off against Akron and Cleveland State in doubles action on Saturday. The team would suffer three losses on the day.
Jordan and Courteau dropped their match, 6-3, to Cleveland State's Klara Mrcela and Kateryna Avram, while Bovolskaia and Caputo fell to Cleveland State's Gaby Schoenberg and Lara Prosenjak, 6-3. White and Rosiello were defeated by Akron's Luisa Echeverry and Alexis Steer, 6-2.
