MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Jan. 9, 2018) – The No. 15 West Virginia University women's basketball team travels to Lawrence, Kansas, on Wednesday to face the Kansas Jayhawks in Big 12 action. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET in Allen Fieldhouse on ESPN3.

The Mountaineers (14-2, 2-2) ended a two-game skid with a 57-49 win over Iowa State at the WVU Coliseum on Sunday. Junior guard
Naomi Davenport collected her fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Davenport is averaging 19.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in Big 12 play to lead the Mountaineers in scoring.
Senior forward
Teana Muldrow just missed a double-double with a team-high 14 rebounds and nine points. It marks the first time since March 17, 2017, that Muldrow has not scored in double figures (17 games).
Fellow senior forward
Kristina King returned to the lineup against the Cyclones after missing five games due to a foot injury suffered on Dec. 16. She grabbed six rebounds and had a pair of steals and a block in her return.
WVU shot a season-low 29.3 percent in the win, its lowest percentage in a victory since 2014. The Mountaineers tied a program low by allowing the Cyclones just four points in the second quarter.
The Mountaineers and the Jayhawks meet for the 13th time on Wednesday, with WVU bringing an 8-4 series lead into the game. Additionally, West Virginia boasts a 4-2 lead in Lawrence as well and is 8-2 all-time against KU in Big 12 play. The two first met in nonconference play back in December of 1992. WVU has won five straight over the Jayhawks.
Kansas enters the matchup with an 11-4 overall mark and a 2-2 mark in Big 12 play. KU won seven straight to start the season before falling to Nebraska, 66-49, on Dec. 6. Most recently, the Jayhawks fell to Baylor at home by a score of 83-48, making the Mountaineers the second straight ranked opponent for the Jayhawks. The Jayhawks average 66.3 points and 42.3 rebounds per game and are currently shooting 40.1 percent from the field and 28.2 percent on 3-pointers. Junior guard Christalah Lyons leads the way with 14.8 points per game, followed closely by junior guard Kylee Kopatich at 14.7 points per game. Junior forward Austin Richardson boasts a team-high 5.8 rebounds per game.
"They always did play hard. I think (coach Brandon Schneider) does a good job of getting his team to play hard," said WVU coach
Mike Carey. "They have some talent. When you get talent to play hard, you're a lot better. They're a lot better, so it will be a tough game."
After going 1-1 last week, WVU drops to No. 15 in the most recent USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, released Monday. The Mountaineers also ranked at No. 15 in the most recent AP Poll, released on Tuesday.
West Virginia returns home on Saturday to host TCU in a 5 p.m. tip on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh.
