
Moisey Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Following a week in which he helped the Mountaineers' take down two ranked opponents inside the WVU Coliseum, West Virginia University redshirt junior Zeke Moisey has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Moisey set the tone in Thursday's win over No. 18 Oklahoma, winning by fall over No. 17 Christian Moody in 1 minute, 11 seconds at 125 pounds. Moisey, who is ranked 19th nationally, avenged a loss to Moody at the Lindenwood Open on Nov. 18.
Three days later, the Northampton, Pennsylvania, native claimed an 11-2 major decision over North Dakota State's Paul Bianchi. Moisey notched four takedowns in seven minutes to post his fourth straight dual-match win of the season and his 15th victory overall. The 125-pound wrestler claimed an early 4-1 advantage over Bianchi, collecting two takedowns in the first period. He then started the second frame in the defensive position and earned the escape before using another takedown to take a 7-1 lead into the final period. Bianchi notched an escape in the third, but Moisey was able to tack on another takedown to go along with a penalty point for the 10-2 advantage. The riding time also was in favor of Moisey, as he walked away with the 11-2 victory over Bianchi. His bonus-point victory set up a thrilling win, as the Mountaineers went on to claim five of nine bouts to defeat the Bison for their third Big 12 victory in program history.
Of note, Moisey leads the team with four pins and 16 takedowns on the year.
