MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team ranks No. 18 in this week's Road to Nationals Rankings.
The Mountaineers' (0-2) position is two spots lower than their debut in the rankings last week. This week's rankings are based on season average, and WVU shows a 195.15 average following a season-best 195.875 score earned in a loss to then-No. 14 Arizona State (196.475) on Jan. 14.
WVU also is nationally ranked No. 20 on uneven bars (48.825 avg.) and balance beam (48.838 avg.). The Mountaineers sit just outside the top 25 on vault at No. 26 (48.775 avg.). WVU also ranks No. 37 on floor exercise (48.713 avg.).
Individually, junior Kirah Koshinski is up one spot to No. 13 on vault with a 9.875 avg. The average is the fifth-highest nationally. Additionally, senior Zaakira Muhammad moves up one spot to No. 31 in the all-around (39.1 avg.).
The Mountaineers maintain their No. 2 ranking in the Southeast Region. The squad also ranks No. 2 on beam, No. 3 on bars, No. 5 on vault and No. 6 on floor.
Muhammad owns four regional rankings. The Pennsauken, New Jersey, native paces the Mountaineers on beam and bars and ranks No. 8 (9.813 avg.) and No. 9 (9.813 avg.), respectively. She also ranks No. 8 in the all-around and No. 11 on vault (9.813 avg.).
Koshinski paces the vault lineup and ranks No. 2 regionally. Senior Robyn Bernard sits at No. 20 (9.75 avg.), and sophomore Julia Merwin follows at No. 25 (9.725 avg.).
On bars, junior Jaquie Tun is tied with Muhammad at No. 9 with a 9.813 average. Freshman Sydney Marler ranks No. 20 (9.762 avg.).
Senior Jordan Gillette and Koshinski follow Muhammad in the beam rankings and sit at No. 14 (9.775 avg.). Freshman McKenna Linnen ranks No. 21 (9.738 avg.), and junior Carly Galpin checks-in at No. 25 (9.725 avg.).
WVU continues to rank No. 3 overall in the Big 12 Conference. The Mountaineers sit at No. 1 in the bars rankings and check-in at No. 3 on vault, beam and floor.
Koshinski owns the team's top conference ranking and ranks No. 2 on vault. Muhammad follows at No. 8.

The Mountaineers close their season-opening homestand at the WVU Coliseum this Sunday, Jan. 21, against Towson and George Washington, with action set to begin at 2 p.m. It's the Wendy M. Roach Pink Meet Invitational, and tickets will be available for $3 each for fans who wear pink to support breast cancer awareness. Additionally, the first 1,000 fans will receive a pink shaker, courtesy of WVU Medicine, and pink WVU Medicine t-shirts will be available for a minimum donation of $10.
