MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 16-ranked West Virginia University gymnastics team spent the morning giving back to the Morgantown community, as gymnasts and members of the coaching staff joined United States Senator Shelley Moore Capito at Skyview Elementary for West Virginia Girls Rise Up!
An initiative started by Sen. Capito, the program empowers girls to reach their full potential through education, fitness and confidence-boosting activities.
Seniors Robyn Bernard and Zaakira Muhammad, as well as sophomores Chloe Cluchey, Erica Fontaine and Abby Kaufman, shared stories from their youth. The Mountaineers also talked about their personal heroes before leading the elementary students through a goal-setting activity.
