Mountaineers Receive National Championship Rings

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 1-ranked West Virginia University rifle team received its 2017 NCAA Rifle Championship rings during the third quarter of the WVU football game on Sept. 9 at Milan Puskar Stadium.
WVU President E. Gordon Gee and Director of Athletics Shane Lyons presented the Mountaineers with their fifth straight national championship ring. Under coach Jon Hammond, WVU has won six NCAA titles since 2009, bringing the program's championship total to a nation-best 19.
After receiving their rings, the Mountaineers presented President Gee and Director Lyons with their own rings with thanks for their continued support of the program.
The Mountaineers open their 2017-18 season against No. 9 NC State on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 8 a.m., at The Citadel's Inouye Marksmanship Center in Charleston, South Carolina.
