Mountaineer Duo Claims Top-10 Finishes

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Two members of the West Virginia University rifle team combined for a pair of top-10 finishes last week at the 2017 European Shooting Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Sophomore Milica Babic placed third in the junior women’s 50m rifle 3 positions with a 442.1 mark in the final. A native of Belgrade, Serbia, she entered the final in first place, having shot a 580 mark (193 kneeling, ,198 prone, 189 standing) in the qualification relay.
Babic also placed 24th in the junior women’s 50m rifle prone with a 597.1 score.
Incoming freshman David Koenders finished in eighth place in the junior men’s 50m rifle prone with a 120.1 final score. The Mossautal, Germany, native qualified through to the final in fourth place with a 616.8 mark.
Koenders also shot 1139 (379 kneeling, 392 prone, 368 standing) in the junior men’s 50m rifle 3 positions and finished 15th overall.
