Junior expected to return in November
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University women's basketball junior guard Tynice Martin sustained a foot injury at the USA Basketball U23 National Team Trials on August 3, 2017, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She had surgery last week and is expected to return in November.
Martin released a video statement on social media earlier today.
"Hi Mountaineer fans, this is Tynice Martin. I wanted to let everyone know about my injury that happened at USA Basketball Team Trials. On the second day, I injured my foot and had to get surgery in Colorado Springs. The doctors are telling me I will be back and ready to go in November. A little road block, but I'll be back shortly. See everyone soon. Let's Go Mountaineers!"
"We feel confident she'll be back soon for us," said coach Mike Carey. "Our main concern right now is to get her back healthy again and ready to go for the second semester."
