MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Rising junior Will Anti claimed second in the junior men’s 50m rifle 3 positions on Tuesday, June 27, at the USA Shooting National Championships for Rifle/Pistol, at the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit in Fort Benning, Georgia.
Anti, a Fort Benning native, shot 1153 on day one and 1155 on day two for a qualification score of 2308. He finished second in the final with a 435.6 mark, giving him seven additional points and pushing his final score to 2315.
With his finish, Anti again secured a spot on the United States Junior National Team.
Freshman Noah Barker competed alongside Anti and placed 26th with a two-day score of 2234 (1119, 1115).
The USA Shooting National Championships for Rifle/Pistol continues through Sunday, July 2.
Additionally, competition at the 2017 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship Rifle/Pistol concluded on Tuesday. Incoming Mountaineer David Koenders (Germany) shot in the final event, men’s 50m rifle 3 positions, and finished in 25th place with a 1156 (379 kneeling, 398 prone, 379 standing) total.
