A Letter from Coach Butts

Mountaineer Nation,
As hard as it is to believe, we have arrived at our 2017 WVU Coliseum regular-season finale! Today’s meet at 2 p.m. is sure to be fun – we have $1 tickets and selection concessions, as well as free t-shirts for the first 200 youth fans. Fun superhero and princess activities will take place pre-meet on the Coliseum concourse, too.
It’s going to be an exciting afternoon inside the WVU Coliseum, and we are going to end the day with a special ceremony honoring our three seniors – Brooklyn Doggette, Alexa Goldberg and Mackenzie Myers.
These three gymnasts have been through the fire while competing the sport they love. Their dedication is undeniable, and all three have defined the true meaning of Mountaineer Fight.
Brooklyn, Alexa and Mackenzie have risen in their own ways to be senior leaders this year for this team. They each have shown an amazing ability to step up and find their own role within this program.
Fans, I encourage you to join us at the WVU Coliseum today and help me honor these three special student-athletes. They have given everything – physically and emotionally – to West Virginia University. It is important for our fans to come out today and honor these gymnasts’ dedication to the Mountaineer Spirit.
Help me say ‘thank you’ today to three seniors who have given 150 percent to their WVU careers.
Come early, cheer loudly, enjoy the great gymnastics and celebrate the careers of three important Mountaineers!

The Mountaineers play host to No. 16 George Washington, No. 24 Eastern Michigan and Pitt this afternoon at 2 p.m., inside the WVU Coliseum. Tickets are $1 each and are available now at WVUGAME.com. Fans also can purchase tickets at the Gold Gate Ticket Office. Doors open at 1 p.m.
