
Muldrow Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - After leading No. 11/12 WVU to a 70-56 win over No. 18/21 Texas A&M, West Virginia University women's basketball senior Teana Muldrow has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Muldrow, a native of East Orange, New Jersey, registered a game-high 24 points to give the Mountaineers their nonconference first road win over a top-25 opponent since 2013.
It also marked the third consecutive game and the sixth time in seven games that she has scored over 20 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds while dishing out two assists. In the second quarter of Sunday's contest she scored 10 of the Mountaineer's 13 points to help build the lead.
Muldrow currently leads the Big 12 in scoring, averaging 23.9 points per game. She ranks second with 9.1 rebounds per game and third in minutes, averaging 35.0 per game.
This Week in Women's Basketball: WVU returns to the Coliseum for a pair of games … the Mountaineers host rival Pitt on Thursday in a 7 p.m. rivalry tilt … West Virginia returns to the court on Sunday for a 2 p.m. tip against Coppin State.

It was a kind of sloppy game, but I told our team in there that I would rather win sloppy than lose pretty. We are not very deep. Texas A&M is not very deep, and we got in a little bit of foul trouble there that concerned me. Our players did what they needed to do to win. It is a tough place to play and we played a real good team. To come in here and win that game is big for us."

Last Week in Rifle: Seven members of the No. 1-ranked WVU rifle team competed at the USA Shooting Winter Airgun Championships on Dec. 1-2, at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado … on Friday, junior Ginny Thrasher shot 252.5 in the women's junior final to claim victory … sophomore Morgan Phillips finished second with a 248.4 mark … Thrasher also placed second in the open final with a 249.1 mark, while senior Elizabeth Gratz shot 206.6 and finished fourth and Phillips placed seventh with a 143.5 total … on Saturday, Gratz finished first in the women's open final with a 250.2 mark, and Thrasher again finished first in the junior final with a 249.6 score … additionally, freshman Sarah Osborn placed fourth in the junior final with a 203.3 mark … on the men's side, junior Will Anti placed third in the men's junior final with a 223.6 mark.
