WVU Climbs to No. 9 in USA Today Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The undefeated West Virginia University women's basketball team entered the top 10 of the most recent USA Today Sports Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 9 in the rankings released on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers moved up to No. 9 in the AP Top 25 Poll released on Monday.
West Virginia picked up 505 points in this week's poll. Baylor leads the Big 12 with a sixth-place ranking and 632 points, while Texas ranks just ahead of WVU at No. 8 with 571 points. Oklahoma State (21) and Oklahoma (2) received votes in this week's rankings.
The Mountaineers moved to 11-0 following an 84-41 victory over Morgan State on Monday evening at the WVU Coliseum. Senior forward Teana Muldrow and junior guard Katrina Pardee combined for 46 points in the victory, while junior guard/forward Naomi Davenport added 12. Redshirt junior center Theresa Ekhelar scored eight points in her first career start, while senior guard Chania Ray also added eight points.
WVU takes on Morehead State on Thursday in a 7 p.m. Holiday Hoops game at the WVU Coliseum. Tickets are available at WVUGAME.com for a cost of $5 for the general public and $3 for seniors/youths and groups of $10 or more. They can also be purchased by calling 1-800-WVU-GAME or by visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office located at the Gold Gate of the Coliseum.
