
Thrasher Takes Junior Win

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior Ginny Thrasher of the No. 1-ranked West Virginia University rifle team finished first in the women's junior division in day one of the USA Shooting Winter Airgun (WAG) Championships at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A native of Springfield, Virginia, Thrasher shot 252.5 in the women's junior final to claim victory. The mark is 0.4 better than the current International Shooting Sport Federation finals record of 252.1.
Sophomore Morgan Phillips finished second in the women's junior division with a 248.4 mark.
The duo advanced to the women's full and junior finals following strong relay showings, as Thrasher shot 416.2 and Phillips shot 415.4.
In the all-age final, Thrasher shot 249.1 and placed second. Senior Elizabeth Gratz finished fourth with a 206.6 mark, while Phillips shot 143.5 and finished seventh. Gratz advanced to the final following a 415.7 relay mark.
Sophomore Milica Babic shot 415.0 and finished 10th overall, while freshman Sarah Osborn shot 410.1 and finished 16th in the junior division, 29th overall.
In the men's division, junior Will Anti just missed qualifying for the junior final, as he shot 611.3 and finished ninth in the division, 23rd overall. Redshirt-freshman Noah Barker shot 610.3 and finished 12th in the junior division, 27th overall.
The second and final day of air rifle competition is tomorrow, Dec. 2.
