MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Louisville Tennis Classic in Louisville, Kentucky, on Sunday.  
 
WVU closed the three-day competition with a singles match against Michigan State. The Mountaineers took all six matches to the third-set tiebreaker, but the Spartans held on to win five of the six matches. WVU's lone win came when Lyn Yuen Choo bested Emily Metcalf, 4-6, 6-1, 10-4, on the third court. At No. 1, Anne-Sophie Courteau fell to Aslina Chua, 6-7, 6-1, 11-9. At No. 2, MSU's Habiba Shaker bested Giovanna Caputo, 6-4, 4-6 and 10-5. Paula Goetz retired in the second set at No. 4 to give Sara Kauuttila the victory. On the fifth court, Davina Nguyen defeated Christina Jordan, 6-3, 3-6, 10-6. Additionally, Kirsten White fell after a dramatic tiebreaker, 6-3, 5-7, 12-10.
 
"We had a heck of a battle in all of our matches today and competed well as a team," WVU coach Miha Lisac said. "We got better and closer as a team this weekend and these lessons will help us in the spring."
 
The Mountaineers close the fall campaign on Nov. 10-12, as they travel to Tallahassee, Florida, for the FSU All-Conference Showdown. WVU will be joined by host Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Wisconsin and Central Florida in the three-day event.
