
WVU Moves to No. 12 in USA Today Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team moved up one spot to No. 12 in the most recent USA Today Sports Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers (6-0) come in at No. 11 in the AP Top 25 Poll, released on Monday.
WVU earned 446 points and is one of three Big 12 teams to appear in the rankings. Texas ranks at No. 4 with 704 points while Baylor sits at No. 9 with 549 points. Additionally, Oklahoma (27) and Kansas State (3) received votes in this week's poll. Upcoming opponent Texas A&M moved up to No. 21 after previously being ranked at No. 25.
West Virginia ran its overall mark to 6-0 this past week with a 3-0 performance at the 2017 Paradise Jam Tournament in Melbourne, Florida. The Mountaineers claimed a 75-68 win over Butler before rolling to a 75-42 victory over Drexel. They claimed the Island Division title with a 79-61 win over rival Virginia Tech, marking WVU's first win over the Hokies since 2004.
Senior forward Muldrow led the Mountaineers with 22.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game along with four blocks and five steals, earning her Paradise Jam Island Division MVP honors. She was joined on the tournament team by senior guard Chania Ray, who tied the tournament record for 3-point percentage by going 3-for-3 in the win over Drexel. Ray capped the week averaging 14.7 points per game with 11 triples and 17 assists.
West Virginia travels to No. 18/21 Texas A&M on Sunday as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET on ESPNU in College Station, Texas.
