MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team has moved up one spot to No. 11 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, released on Monday.
In addition, senior forward Teana Muldrow was named the College Sports Madness Big 12 Player of the Week.
The Mountaineers, who moved to 3-0 on the season, were previously ranked at No. 12 in last week's AP Poll and came in at No. 15 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Preseason Poll. The next USA Today Poll is slated for Tuesday.
WVU earned 439 points and is one of three Big 12 teams to appear in the poll. In addition to the Mountaineers, No. 2 Texas (740) and No. 8 Baylor (580) appear in the rankings. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State both received votes in this week's poll.
Led by Muldrow's 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, West Virginia went 2-0 on the week. The Mountaineers downed Sacramento State, 101-47, on Tuesday at the WVU Coliseum, surpassing the century mark for the second time in the young season. Behind a career-high 20 points from Katrina Pardee, WVU topped North Florida, 87-59, to cap a three-game homestand on Sunday.
In addition to pacing the team in scoring and rebounding, Muldrow tied her career high with a trio of blocks against UNF. She shot 60.7 percent from the field and went 9-for-11 at the free-throw line.
West Virginia travels to Melbourne, Florida, this week to take part in Paradise Jam at Eastern Florida State College. The Mountaineers open play on Thursday at noon against Butler.
