Mountaineers Stay at No. 1

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team is ranked No. 1 in the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll for the fourth straight week.
This week's rankings are based on the teams' last score shot.
TCU stays at No. 2 this week, followed by Murray State at No. 3 and Alaska-Fairbanks at No. 4. Kentucky ranks No. 5.
Ohio State ranks No. 6, Nevada moves up to No. 7 and Air Force falls to No. 8. Army and Nebraska round out the top 10.
The Mountaineers (8-0, 5-0 GARC) faced then-No. 10 Memphis and No. 3 Murray State this past weekend on the road. WVU defeated the Tigers, 4730-4634, on Saturday, Nov. 11. On Sunday, the Mountaineers closed their fall slate, defeating the Racers 4742-4703. WVU shot an NCAA record with its smallbore score of 2356. The Mountaineers' aggregate score of 4742 also was a record-setting mark.
WVU will resume competition on Sunday, Jan. 14, against Akron in Morgantown.
