Women’s Hoops Climbs to No. 22 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women’s basketball team moved up two spots to No. 22 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll released on Monday.
West Virginia (15-5, 3-5) went 1-1 last week after picking up a 62-51 win at Kansas and falling short, 79-73, at No. 2 Baylor.
WVU earned 104 votes this week, moving up two spots from No. 24. Other Big 12 teams in the AP Top 25 include No. 2 Baylor (787), No. 12 Texas (460) No. 20 Oklahoma (202) and No. 25 Kansas State (54).
The Mountaineers are No. 23 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. A new poll will be released on Tuesday.
No. 22/23 West Virginia returns home to play Texas Tech on Wednesday, Jan. 25, in a 7 p.m. contest. All WVU Faculty and Staff members will receive free admission to Wednesday’s contest. The Mountaineers then hit the road on Sunday, Jan. 29, for a 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT matchup at No. 12 Texas.
