Mountaineers to Host Summer Camps

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University volleyball coach Reed Sunahara and staff have announced several camp options and dates to be offered in the summer of 2016. The coaching staff will offer five camps in Morgantown, as well as an option for satellite camps.
The Mountaineer Academy will be take place June 13-15 and is open to any and all entrants in third through 12th grades. The camp will focus on introducing and reinforcing the fundamentals of the sport.
The Elite Camp will be open to players in ninth through 12th grade and is offered July 8-10. It offers the highest level of training to experienced players and is designed to expose campers to collegiate training with emphasis on skills, systems, strategy and leadership. Both commuter and overnight options are available.
Academy Sessions will take place July 11-13 for campers entering ninth through 12th grades. Three sessions will be offered at various times of the day, with players have the option to sign up for one, two of three sessions. The All-Skills Academy (8:30 a.m. – Noon) will focus on introducing the fundamentals of volleyball. Players in the Attacking Academy (1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.) introduces techniques and mechanics that will improve timing, power, speed and range. The Setting Academy (5 p.m. – 8 p.m.) will focus on developing technique, movement and decision making in order to enhance consistency and accuracy.
