WVU Completes Day One at Big 12 Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team completed day one at the 2016 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, held at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday.
On the first day of competition, the Mountaineers competed in the 10,000-meter run to kickstart the conference meet.
Senior Savanna Plombon placed ninth in the 10,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 36:02.18, and sophomore Brynn Harshbarger followed in 10th with a time of 36:24.59. Sophomore Corinne Kule placed 14th with a time of 37:50.19.
The second day of competition starts at 11 a.m. ET, with the heptathlon and the final day on Sunday will start at noon ET with the women’s discus. Live results can be found atBig12sports.com. Fans can watch Sunday’s running events live on www.foxsports.go.com.
Five Big 12 women’s track and field teams rank within the top 25 in the most recent USTFCCCA national rankings, including No. 5 Texas, No. 9 Kansas State, No. 15 Oklahoma, No. 21 Oklahoma State and No. 19 Baylor.
