INDIANAPOLIS - For the second time in her career, West Virginia University women’s basketball senior guard Bria Holmes was tabbed All-America Honorable Mention by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), as announced by the organization on Saturday.
The All-America Honorable Mention accolade is the fourth in Holmes’ career. Holmes, a native of New Haven, Connecticut, garnered Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention for the second time earlier this week. On Friday, Holmes was named a Senior CLASS Award Second-Team All-American.
The WBCA honor is the second for her after earning honorable mention in 2015. Holmes was named to the WBCA All-Region 3 team for the second time in her career earlier this month.
The New Haven, Connecticut, native led West Virginia with 16.8 points and 3.7 assists per game. Holmes tallied 589 points and grabbed 145 rebounds in 35 contests. She became the first Mountaineer to score 500 or more points in three consecutive seasons.
With her 21 points against Ohio State on March 20, Holmes became the third Mountaineer in program history to reach the 2,000-point plateau. A three-time unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection, she is the Big 12’s active career scoring leader with 2,001 points.
