Marsh Places 17th in 100 Back at NCAA Championship
March 25, 2016 01:14 PM | Men's Swimming & Diving
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior Andrew Marsh of the West Virginia University swimming team finished 17th in the 100 backstroke on the third day of competition at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, on Friday, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Marsh placed 17th overall with a time of 46.15 in the prelims. He finished just .05 seconds shy of a top-16 finish and a spot in tonight's finals.
“Andrew had a very solid swim today,” said coach Vic Riggs. “He was right at his prelim time from the Big 12 Championship, which was good. His finish wasn’t as clean into the wall, which probably cost him his spot in the finals. However, to be 17th is a great accomplishment, and he’ll be ready for the 100 freestyle tomorrow.”
Marsh will compete in his third and final event, and his final event as a Mountaineer, in the 100 freestyle tomorrow, where he is seeded No. 19 nationally. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. and finals are set for 6 p.m.
In yesterday’s competition, Marsh competed in the 50 freestyle, his first event of the weekend, where he placed 45th with a time of 20.18.
