Marsh Begins NCAA Championships with 50 Free
March 24, 2016 04:34 PM | Men's Swimming & Diving
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University senior swimmer Andrew Marsh opened the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships in the 50 freestyle on Thursday in Atlanta, Georgia.
Competing in his second NCAA Championships, Marsh placed 45th overall in the 50 freestyle, his first event of the weekend. Marsh finished with a time of 20.18 to beat Minnesota’s swimmer by 0.01 seconds.
“Andrew had a solid performance to start the week at NCAAs,” WVU coach Vic Riggs said. “The first event is sometimes tough, and I’m sure he was hoping for a better performance. Andrew felt his tempo was a little slow, but he also said it is a good warm-up swim for tomorrow.”
Marsh’s NCAA Championships continues tomorrow in the 100 backstroke, where he is seeded No. 6 nationally. Saturday, Marsh will compete in the 100 freestyle as the No. 19 seed. Prelims each day will begin at 10 a.m. and finals are set for 6 p.m.
Live results can be found at swmeets.com. A live stream of all the action and more championship information can be found at RamblinWreck.com. Additionally, ESPN3.com will stream the finals on Friday and Saturday, and ESPNU will air a two-hour show at on Wednesday, April 8, at 5 p.m., ET.
