Women’s Basketball No. 13 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women’s basketball team climbed three spots to No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll released on Monday.
Last week, West Virginia picked up a 94-53 victory over Morehead State on Wednesday and a 66-61 win over Ole Miss in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Sunday. The Mountaineers, 9-0, are off to their best start since opening the 2010-11 season with a 16-0 record. West Virginia has won 30 consecutive games against nonconference opponents at the WVU Coliseum and 11 straight at home.
WVU earned 303 votes this week, 98 more than the prior week. Other Big 12 teams in the ranking include: No. 3 Baylor (750), No. 17 Texas (249) and No. 19 Oklahoma (187). Kansas State (48) and Oklahoma State (8) are in the others receiving votes category. The ranking is the highest for West Virginia since finishing the 2013-14 season at No. 7 in the AP Poll.
The Mountaineers are No. 17 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. A new poll will be released on Tuesday.
No. 13/17 West Virginia welcomes USC Upstate to the WVU Coliseum on Saturday, Dec. 10. Tipoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. All kids 13 and under that complete the Musket coloring sheet located here will receive free admission to Saturday’s contest.
