Babic Strong in Day Two of Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A ninth-place showing by West Virginia University freshman Milica Babic highlighted the second day of the 2016 USA Shooting Winter Air Gun Championships, today, at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Babic earned her finish with a 414.5 mark in the women’s 10m air rifle competition. The score also was good enough for ninth place in the junior division.
Junior Elizabeth Gratz followed Babic with a 411.5 score and finished 27th in the open competition and 18th in the junior division. Additionally, freshman Morgan Phillips placed 33rd overall and 23rd in the junior competition with a 410.4 total.
Shooting in the men’s 10m air rifle competition, senior Jean-Pierre Lucas paced the Mountaineers with a 616.0 total, good enough for 19th place overall. Sophomore Will Anti placed 26th in the open relay and 14th in the junior division with a 611.8 mark. A pair of freshmen also earned strong junior finishes, as Jack Anderson placed 19th with a 609.3 score, and Noah Barker placed 37th with a 599.5 total.
WVU graduate assistant Michael Bamsey finished first among Mountaineer shooters, placing ninth in the men’s open competition with a 621.2 total.
The three-day competition concludes tomorrow.
