Mountaineers Remain No. 12 in Coaches Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women’s basketball team remain at No. 12 in the USA TODAY Sports Top 25 Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.
West Virginia (12-0) completed its nonconference slate undefeated for the third time in program history with a 77-45 win over Mount St. Mary’s on Dec. 21. West Virginia’s 12-0 opening to the season is the second-best start in program history, only behind the 16-0 start from the 2010-11 team.
WVU earned 441 votes this week. Other Big 12 teams in the ranking include No. 4 Baylor (709), No. 16 Texas (267) and No. 24 Oklahoma (80). Oklahoma State (22) is in the others receiving votes category.
The Mountaineers are also No. 12 in the Associated Press Poll, which was released on Monday.
No. 12 West Virginia opens its fifth Big 12 Conference season at TCU on Thursday, Dec. 29, in a 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT tilt in Fort Worth, Texas. The Mountaineers will then continue the road trip with a visit to Kansas State on Sunday, Jan. 1, in a 2 p.m. ET/1p.m. CT tipoff.
