In this week’s report, Nick Kwiatkoski (Chicago), Keith Tandy (Tampa Bay) and Daryl Worley (Carolina) led their respective teams in tackles. If the NFL playoffs started today, nine Mountaineers would be on a postseason team. Nine others are still in playoff contention with three weeks of the regular season remaining.

Tavon Austin made seven catches for 62 yards and rushed two times for 27 yards in Los Angeles’ 42-14 loss to Atlanta on Sunday. Austin also returned seven punts for an average of 10.6 yards per punt return. Austin’s 23-yard run in the first quarter was the second longest run of the day. Austin is just 11 receiving yards shy of reaching his career-high of 473 set last season. Los Angeles (4-9) looks to snap its four-game losing skid at Seattle (8-4-1) on Thursday, Dec. 15.

Rookie Nick Kwiatkoski led the Bears with eight tackles and recorded his first career sack in Chicago’s 20-17 loss to Detroit on Sunday. Kwiatoski’s sack came late in the second quarter as the Lions were driving down the field. This season, the linebacker has recorded 28 tackles, two pass deflections and a sack in 11 games. Chicago (3-10) plays host to Green Bay (7-6) on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Wendell Smallwood carried the ball three times for three yards and returned a kickoff for 27 yards before leaving Sunday’s game against Washington in the second quarter. Smallwood suffered a right-knee injury and was placed on injured reserve. The Eagles fell 27-22 to the Redskins on Sunday. Philadelphia (5-8) returns to action at Baltimore (7-5) on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Next Game: Practice Squad
Dreamius Smith was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad on Nov. 28. Smith signed an undrafted free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers last season. He was placed on injured reseve on August 30 and released two days later. Smith appeared in two games with the Chargers in 2015.

With 57 seconds remaining in the game, Tandy intercepted a pass from New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees to preserve a 16-11 Buccaneers victory. Tandy intercepted a late-game pass at San Diego on Dec. 4. Tandy led Tampa Bay with nine tackles, three pass deflections and an interception. Tampa Bay (8-5) visits NFC East division leader Dallas (11-2) on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Worley returned his second-quarter interception for 22 yards and set up an eventual Carolina touchdown. Worley’s 77 tackles this season rank third among NFL rookies. Carolina (5-8) visits Washington (7-5-1) on Monday, Dec. 19.
