Mountaineers Stay at No. 1

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– For the third week in a row, the West Virginia University rifle team ranks No. 1 in the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll.
This week’s rankings are based off the highest aggregate score shot by each team in its last week of competition.
The last aggregate score shot by the Mountaineers (5-0, 3-0 GARC) was 4713, on Nov. 5 in a home win against Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) opponent Memphis.
Along with WVU, the top three teams in this week’s ranking shot an aggregate score of 4700 or higher.
Kentucky moves up two spots to No. 2 after shooting a high score of 4705 in a pair of matches over the weekend.
Murray State is down one spot to No. 3 after shooting an aggregate score of 4700.
Air Force moves up one spot and is ranked No. 4, while TCU is down two spots and sits at No. 5.
Ohio State is up two spots to No. 6, and Nebraska moves up one spot to No. 7.
Alaska-Fairbanks is down two spots to No. 8, while NC State and Mississippi are tied at No. 9, as each shot aggregate scores of 4655.
WVU returns to the road for a pair of GARC matches set for Saturday, Nov. 12, against No. 9 Mississippi and Sunday, Nov. 13, against No. 13 Army. Both matches are set to begin at 8 a.m. at the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center in West Point, New York.
