MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University volleyball’s Hannah Shreve was named to the 2015 Academic All-District 2 Volleyball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), on Thursday.
It marks the first career Academic All-District honor for Shreve.
“Hannah has worked hard in the classroom and on the court,” said coach Reed Sunahara. “She is the epitome of what a student-athlete should be. We are proud of her for her accomplishments.”
A middle blocker for the Mountaineers, Shreve graduated in May of 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Accounting after just three years in Morgantown. She was named a WVU Foundation Outstanding Senior, a winner of the Big 12’s Dr. Gerald Lage Award and carried the banner for the College of Business and Economics at the spring commencement ceremonies.
A native of Charleston who has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, the 2016 Big 12 Volleyball All-Academic Team, the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll and the President’s List, Shreve is currently pursuing a Professional Accountancy Masters and boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA.
On the court, Shreve serves as a team captain and ranks second on the team in blocks with 0.97 blocks per set. Earlier this season, she moved into WVU’s all-time top-10 career blocking list and now ranks fifth with 285 career block assists.
Shreve advances to the Academic All-America ballots, where she will be eligible for first-, second- and third-team honors. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's game, and no student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
The Mountaineers host Kansas State in a Big 12 tilt on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the WVU Coliseum. First serve is schedule for 6 p.m.
