MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team is ranked No. 2 in this week’s College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll.
This week’s CRCA Poll rankings are based off the last aggregate score shot by each team.
The Mountaineers (1-0) were ranked No. 1 in the CRCA Preseason Poll.
TCU checks in at No. 1 this week, while Murray State drops one spot to No. 3. Kentucky remains at No. 4, and Ohio State sits at No. 5.
Alaska, Air Force, Nebraska, Nevada and Memphis remain at the No. 6-10 spots, respectively.
WVU opened its 2016-17 season with a 4714-4674 victory against OSU on Oct. 2 in Morgantown. The Mountaineers defeated the Buckeyes in both disciplines, winning smallbore, 2348-2312, and air rifle, 2366-2362.
The Mountaineers open their Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) season at No. 11 NC State on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m.
