WVU Checks in at No. 1 in the CRCA Poll

MORGANTOWN W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team remains at No. 1 in this week’s College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll.
Today’s rankings are based on the last aggregate score shot by each team.
Murray State remains at No. 2, while Kentucky and TCU are tied at No. 3. Alaska-Fairbanks checks in at No. 5, followed by Air Force at the No. 6 spot.
Ohio State sits at No. 7, with Nebraska, Memphis and N.C. State completing the top 10.
Most recently, West Virginia (9-0, 5-0 GARC) displayed two record-setting performances against No. 5 Alaska-Fairbanks (Jan. 12) and No. 15 Akron (Jan. 17) at the WVU Rifle Range. The Mountaineers set an NCAA record with an aggregate score of 4724 to beat the Nanooks by a score of 4724-4697. West Virginia then shot 16 points higher in its 4740-4621 victory over Great American Rifle Conference foe No. 15 Akron, breaking its own NCAA record for the second time in five days.
The Mountaineers hit the road after five straight home matches and travel to Annapolis, Maryland, to face No. 14-ranked Navy, on Saturday, Jan. 23, inside the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range. The match is set to begin at 8 a.m.
