MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University swimming and diving team will head to Fort Worth, Texas to compete against TCU on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 1 p.m., ET, in the University Recreation Center Natatorium.
“Coming off last weekend's meet against Pitt, facing TCU presents another great rivalry meet, but on the road,” said coach Vic Riggs. “TCU has swam well all year and is in the exact same position we were in last week. This will be TCU’s first meet since the break and senior day, and we know they will be ready.”
The Mountaineers have faced the Horned Frogs in four consecutive years. In last year’s competition, the WVU men took a 192-108 win over TCU, while the women fell short, 155-145. Additionally, two pool records and one school record were set by the Mountaineers at the WVU Natatorium.
The WVU men hold a 2-1 all-time record against TCU, while the women are 0-3 against the Horned Frogs.
“It's our job to go in there with the same energy and confidence we had last week to even the field,” said Riggs. “If we can accomplish that then we have a shot at a couple of wins.”
Last week, the Mountaineer men beat Pitt as WVU hosted the Backyard Brawl at the WVU Natatorium, on Jan. 9. The WVU men’s squad dominated Pitt, 180.5-119.5, to earn its first win over the Panthers in the annual rivalry meet since 2011. In the women’s competition, WVU fell 188-111.
Results and updates from Saturday’s meet can be found on Twitter.
West Virginia returns home to host its final home meet of the season with Senior Night on Friday, Jan. 29, at 6 p.m., as the men and women compete against Villanova, while the women will also face Big 12 foe Iowa State.
