Hey WVU fans! It’s Teana Muldrow.
I wanted to share our experiences in Madrid with you. On Wednesday, we arrived by high speed train, which took only two hours to travel about 350 miles.
When we first arrived, we toured the city of Madrid by bus and stopped by the outside of the Las Ventas Bull Ring. Later that night, we settled in our hotel and walked around the various shops and restaurants. The people here are really nice. You can tell by the way people dress and eat in the restaurants that the culture is totally different. It was good to see different things around the world. I liked that a lot!
We visited the Prado Museum on Thursday. I saw a lot of sculptures I enjoyed. They also had a ton of classical art. The most interesting painting to me was the La Mujer Barbuda, which means the bearded woman.
Our last game was against CREF Hola! Madrid. We won that game to complete the sweep in Europe. I think we came out pretty strong. We played most of the game without power and a scoreboard due to an outage. It was kind of weird to me, but it showed us that we must play through adversity no matter what is going on around you.
During our last full day in Europe, we went to the Zoo to see all the different types of animals. I saw a many different animals for the first time up close including a panda, a bear, monkeys and flamingos! The zoo was a great experience.
For dinner, we went to a Flamenco performance. It is old Spanish style music and dance. They had three dancers that tapped dance for about an hour. It was very different to me, but pretty fun.
It was a great experience. I enjoyed spending time with my teammates and it’s something I’ll never forget. London, Barcelona and Madrid were all great places to visit. I’d like to give a special thank you to our tour guide Richard Polley and our tour liaison Jim O’Connor for helping us throughout the last 10 days. They were fantastic!
I look forward to coming home later today and starting school on Monday.
