Player of the Week Cam O'Brien
O’Brien helped the Mountaineers to a three-game series sweep at ETSU in his first action of the season.
He batted 7-for-10 (.700) with six runs, three doubles, five RBIs and three walks over the weekend.
O’Brien led the Big 12 for the week in batting average, on-base percentage, doubles and was ranked fourth in runs scored.

Pitcher of the Week
Conner Dotson
Dotson has provided solid relief all season long and despite taking a no-decision on Friday, helped bridge the gap from the starter to the winning pitcher.
He entered the game trailing in the fourth inning and pitched four innings of shutout relief, allowing three hits and striking out four batters.

The WVU baseball team will open Big 12 play this week, but not before traveling to play Liberty on Tuesday, March 10 at 3 p.m. The Mountaineers will then travel to take on Texas from March 13-15. Friday’s game is set for 7 p.m., Saturday’s game begins at 6 p.m. and Sunday’s finale starts at 1:30 p.m.
The Mountaineers went 3-0 last weekend, sweeping ETSU on the road. West Virginia won 7-6 in 10 innings on Friday, won 18-2 on Saturday and completed the sweep with a 13-4 win on Sunday.
The sweep included impressive numbers both at the plate and on the mound. Offensively, WVU batted .377, combining for 38 runs, 49 hits, 21 extra-base hits, eight home runs and 34 RBIs. The pitching staff allowed 10 earned runs in 28.0 innings, striking out 26 batters.
Senior catcher Cam O’Brien impressed in his first weekend of action, batting 7-for-10 (.700) with six runs, three doubles and five RBIs. Sophomore first baseman Jackson Cramer went 4-for-8 (.500) with five runs, one double, one home run and two RBIs. Sophomore right fielder Shaun Wood had one double, one home run and led the team with six RBIs for the weekend.
Junior left-hander Ross Vance picked up the win on Saturday, allowing one hit in five shutout innings with seven strikeouts and one walk. Sophomore right-hander Chad Donato won on Sunday, giving up one run on seven hits with five strikeouts in seven innings.
