MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team completed the second and final day of competition, today, at the UNF Spring Break Invitational in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Mountaineers’ 4x800-meter relay team was the only group in competition on Saturday. The relay team, consisting of Kelly Williams, Millie Paladino, Amy Cashin and Brianna Kerekes, raced to a first-place finish in 9:02.81, besting the second-place finishing Alabama State by more than 13 seconds.
With the end of the 4x800-meter relay, West Virginia has completed its participation in the UNF Spring Break Invitational, hosted by the University of North Florida.
"The weekend was productive. We had a few kids nicked up so we didn't compete them, but the remainder of the team had a good experience," said coach Sean Cleary. "Our vaulters and 4x800 relay had a nice weekend. This was a great way to put the winter weather behind us and prepare for spring."
The Mountaineers’ outdoor season continues next weekend when the squad will be split between the Stanford Invitational and the Ohio Cherry Blossom Invitational.
