MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s swimming team completed the second day of competition at the 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Iowa City, Iowa.
Andrew Marsh was in action on Friday, participating in the men’s 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke. Marsh, a junior, placed 24th in the prelims of the 100 back in 46.56 and finished 41st in the 100 fly in 47.29.
“Andrew had a very good day today,” said coach Vic Riggs. “His backstroke was a bit better than the fly but both were best times for morning swims. I think he handled being in his first NCAA Championships very well and gained valuable experience that he can use over the next 12 months.”
Marsh and senior Tim Squires qualified for the NCAA Championships after hitting a time standard in their respective events. Squires will participate in the men’s 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events, and Marsh will compete in the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle throughout the course of the week.
The third and final day of competition begins with tomorrow’s morning session scheduled for noon, ET. The evening session will begin each day at 8 p.m., ET.
ESPN3.com will stream live the championship finals sessions Friday and Saturday. All session not streamed by ESPN will be streamed live on the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships microsite link. Coverage of the championships will be broadcast on ESPNU at 5 p.m. ET, Wednesday, April 8.
