November 19, 2015 02:24 PM | Men's Swimming & Diving
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After a month off from competition, the West Virginia University swimming and diving team will travel to the Tennessee Invite in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Nov. 20-22. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. each day, while finals will commence at 6 p.m. (5 p.m. diving) the first two days and at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition to WVU, Tennessee will host Missouri, Virginia Tech and UMASS diving.

“We are looking forward to competing after having the month of October off to prepare and focus on this meet,” said coach Vic Riggs. “This will be our first three-day championship format meet of the season, so I’m looking for the teams to use this as a learning experience for what we’ll need to do at the Big 12 Championship in February.”
The Mountaineers’ last competition was against Butler, Seton Hall and Xavier at the Big 12 vs. Big East Weekend at the WVU Natatorium, on Oct 23-24. WVU rolled to victories over each team, winning 38 of the 40 events. The WVU women highlighted the weekend by winning every event.
Senior Andrew Marsh posted seven wins for the WVU men, while senior Jaimee Gillmore led the women with victories in all six races she competed in. The Mountaineer men went 2-0, with wins over Xavier (251-108) and Seton Hall (266-93), while the women went 3-0.
“Facing great teams and competing in Tennessee's facility will give us a good indication of where we are mid-season,” said Riggs. “Having long-course prelims will also help us prepare for those going to US Nationals in a few weeks, and maybe we pick up a new Olympic Trial cut or two.”
This will be the second time the Mountaineers take on the Hokies this season. West Virginia hosted Virginia Tech at the Big 12 vs. ACC Weekend on Oct. 17. The Mountaineer men were edged by the Hookies, 155-145, while the women lost 118.5-173.5. The WVU men won nine of the 16 events and the women won four.
The Tennessee women are coming off a loss to Arkansas on Nov. 6, while the men went 1-2 in their last competition, beating Kentucky and falling to North Carolina and Indiana. Missouri is coming off a tri-meet win on Nov. 6-7, where the men downed Kentucky, Northwestern and Southern Illinois, and the women went 2-0 with victories over UK and SIU.
