MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – For the third straight week, the West Virginia University rifle team ranks No. 1 in this week’s College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll.
Today’s rankings are based on the last score shot by each team.
Murray State jumps one spot and checks in at No. 2, with Alaska-Fairbanks, TCU and Kentucky in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.
After a week off from competition, Air Force continues to sit at the No. 6 spot. Nebraska (No. 7), Ohio State (No. 8), Memphis (No. 9) and N.C. State (No. 10) round out the top 10.
Following a Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) showdown against then-ranked No. 3 Kentucky, Mississippi dropped three spots to No. 16. The Rebels fell to Kentucky by an aggregated score of 4697-4603, on Oct. 24.
Including West Virginia, all nine GARC rifle programs are ranked in this week’s poll. Kentucky is ranked at No. 5, followed by No. 7 Nebraska, No. 9 Memphis, No. 10 N.C. State, No. 12 Army, No. 14 Navy, No. 15 Akron and No. 16 Mississippi.
Following a two-week hiatus, West Virginia (2-0, 1-0) will hit the road for a pair of GARC matches at No. 9 Memphis on Saturday, Oct. 31, before traveling to Oxford, Mississippi, for a match at No. 16 Mississippi on Sunday, Nov. 1. Both matches are slated to begin at 9 a.m. ET.
