MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University swimmers Jaimee Gillmore and Nate Carr were recognized by CollegeSwimming.com as the Big 12 Men’s and Women’s Swimmers-of the-Week after they each scored impressive wins in last weekend’s competitions.
Carr won five races and Gillmore won four last weekend as the Mountaineers took on Georgia Tech on Friday and Virginia Tech on Saturday. They each raced eight times, and neither finished below third place.
“Jaimee and Nate have had a very strong first two weeks of training and competition,” WVU coach Vic Riggs said. “To be recognized for this by CollegeSwimming.com is great for them and our program.”
Carr posted two wins in the 200 freestyle and a victory in the 200 individual medley, along with two relay wins. In the 200 freestyle, Carr won with a 1:40.33 Friday vs. Georgia Tech and a 1:40.61 on Saturday vs. Virginia Tech. Saturday’s win came by 1.64 seconds.
