MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett earned another weekly honor, today, while being named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
After throwing for the second-most single game passing yards in school history, Trickett was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN.
He was also named the Athlon Sports National Player of the Week, the College Sports Madness National Offensive Player of the Week and the College Football Performance Honorable Mention Quarterback Performer of the Week for his efforts on Saturday.
“I have to give credit to the whole offensive unit, from the offensive line to the receivers to the running backs,” Trickett said. “I’m just a facilitator. Those guys are the ones making the plays and deserve all the credit.”
Trickett helped the Mountaineers to a 40-37 win over Maryland on Saturday, finishing 37-of-49 for 511 yards and four touchdowns. The 37 completions were the third-most in a single game in WVU history, as Trickett joined former West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith as the only Mountaineers to throw for more than 500 yards in a single game.
The senior has thrown for more than 345 yards in each of his first three games, ranking him No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 4 nationally with 408 passing yards per game.
