MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University track and field team will travel to New York, N.Y., for the Columbia Last Chance meet on Saturday, March 8, for its final indoor meet of the season.
The Mountaineers are one week removed from the Big 12 Indoor Championships held last weekend in Ames, Iowa.
Three seniors earned a spot on the podium. Stormy Nesbit placed second in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump, Katlyn Shelar placed fourth in the pole vault and Sarah Martinelli finished seventh overall in the one mile.
Shelar holds the overall school record in the pole vault with a mark of 4.10 meters, and has taken attempts at the indoor record (4.07 meters) throughout the winter, coming up just shy.
Martinelli, a Morgantown, W.Va., native, recorded her personal-best time in the mile (4:47.13) during the indoor season.
The Mountaineers will have a week break before kicking off the outdoor season at the Bill Van Horne Invitational in Wheeling, W.Va., on Saturday, March 22.
