MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior forward Kailey Utley of the West Virginia University women’s soccer team earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-East Region honors today.
Utley’s honor is the first career award for the St. Louis, Missouri, native. She also earned her first career Capital One Academic All-District honor in October.
“Kailey’s effort on the field and in the classroom this season were top-notch,” said Mountaineer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “She truly works hard for all her successes, and she richly deserves this academic award.”
A biology major, Utley shows a 3.77 grade point average (GPA). She is a two-time member of the All-Big 12 Soccer First Team and the 2012 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team. She also has landed on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, as well as the Dean’s List and the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll.
A first-year starter, the 2014 All-Big 12 Second Team honoree finished second on the team with 15 points (5 G, 5 A).
