WVU Moves One Spot in Coaches' Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men’s basketball team moved up one spot to No. 20 in this week’s USA Today Top 25 coaches’ poll released earlier today.
The Mountaineers (9-1) remained No. 22 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25, also revealed today.
WVU is one of five Big 12 teams in this week’s two polls: Texas (9), Kansas (10), Iowa State (13) and Oklahoma (15) in the AP poll and Texas (9), Kansas (10), Iowa State (13) and Oklahoma (15) in the USA Today poll.
TCU and Oklahoma State are also receiving votes in this week’s two Top 25 polls.
West Virginia got a strong second half performance from senior guard in Sunday’s 69-66, come-from-behind victory over Marshall in Charleston.
Browne scored 10 points and converted some big free throws down the stretch to give the Mountaineers another victory in their annual meeting with the Herd in Charleston.
Juwan Staten scored a team-high 15 points while Jonathan Holton and Jevon Carter scored 14 points each.
West Virginia is idle for the remainder of the week until facing NC State in the 2014 Gotham Classic on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The game will tip off at 9:30 p.m. and will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
