The Mountaineers (8-2-2, 1-0-1 Big 12) did not see any movement after a week away from competition. The squad previously ranked No. 13 for four weeks.
Two additional Big 12 teams also are ranked in this week’s poll – No. 11 Kansas (13-1, 3-0 Big 12) and No. 15 Texas Tech (10-2-1, 0-2-1 Big 12), WVU’s next opponent.
The poll’s top four remains unchanged, with defending NCAA champion UCLA (10-0-2, 2-0-1 Pac-12) sitting at No. 1 and Stanford (10-0-2, 2-0-1 Pac-12) at No. 2. Florida State (11-1, 4-0 ACC) and Virginia (11-1, 3-1 ACC) follow at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Penn State (12-1, 7-0 Big Ten) is up two spots to No. 5.
Additionally, this week’s NCAA RPI also was released today, and the Mountaineers are up six spots to No. 14, the highest position of any conference team. Also, WVU is up three spots to No. 13 in this week’s BennettRank Rankings.
The Mountaineers open their home conference slate against the Red Raiders on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m., at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. It is a “Dollar Night,” and all tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Colas are available for $1 each. Additionally, the first 100 fans will receive a WVU women’s soccer scarf, and the first 100 Mountaineer Maniacs will receive a Maniac scarf.
Friday’s match will be streamed by NSCAATV.com.
