Men’s Soccer Welcomes Bowling Green

Admission to the match will cost just $1, while WVU students are free with a valid WVU Student ID.
The Mountaineers (7-6-1, 0-1-1 MAC) are in a tie for fourth place in the Mid-American Conference and need to enter the top 4 in order to the make the conference tournament.
“We’re looking forward to returning home. It is always great to play at Dick Dlesk and we have had a lot of success at home this season,” coach Marlon LeBlanc said. “Bowling Green has the most wins in the MAC this season and the top forward in the conference. They have been consistent throughout the season and will be a tough challenge.”
West Virginia is coming off a 2-1 win at No. 12 Penn State on Wednesday evening, its first win over a ranked opponent this season. After conceding a goal early in the second half, senior Andy Bevin notched two goals to give the Mountaineers the win.
Bevin leads West Virginia in goals (9), assists (6) and points (24). He has already matched his career high in a season in all three categories. Bevin also has taken 44 shots and 24 shots on goal.
Freshmen Joey Piatczyc and Louis Thomas continue to rank second on the team with five assists apiece, while junior Jamie Merriam has seven goals and three assists.
Senior goalkeeper Lee Johnston picked up his third win of the season against Penn State. Johnston has a 1.55 goals-against average and has made 25 saves with two shutouts.
Bowling Green (9-4-1, 0-1-1 MAC) was most recently defeated, 3-0, at Ohio State on Wednesday evening. The Falcons began the season with nine wins it their first 11 games.
Sophomore Pat Flynn leads Bowling Green in goals (12) and points (27). Sophomore Jacob Roth has a team-leading six assists and sophomore Joe Sullivan is second on the team in goals (4), assists (5) and points (13). Senior Danny Baraldi has four goals as well.
In goal, sophomore Nick Landsberger will get the start after starter Ryan Heuton was issued a red card at Ohio State. Landsberger has played in nine games with eight starts, posting a 0.98 goals-against average with 28 saves and three shutouts.
Last season the teams tied 3-3 in Morgantown as the Mountaineers came back from two deficits, but gave up a goal late in regulation, allowing Bowling Green to tie the match.
